Crufts 2018 - It's Nearly Here!

Although it is only mid January, we at The Daxington Post are turning our thoughts to Crufts, the greatest dog show on earth, which takes place at the NEC Birmingham from 8th - 11th March 2018.  Our press passes are on the way and we are really excited, and planning what we can specifically focus on this year, while ensuring we take in and report on as much of the Show as possible.  The Crufts website offers lots of information on what visitors can expect to see and experience.  We can promise you a great time so please do not miss it this year!

To accommodate all the dogs hoping to be Best in Show, the breed judging information helps you make a decision about the day you want to visit.

Day 1 - Thursday 8 March 2018
Working and Pastoral breeds
Day 2 - Friday 09 March 2018
Terrier and Hound breeds
Day 3 - Saturday 10 March 2018
Toy and Utility breeds
Day 4 - Sunday 11 March 2018
Gundog breeds

We plan to start our visit on Day 1 when we will meet our Swedish Editor.  You can expect plenty of Samoyed news from Douglas's Mum

On Friday, Dachshund judging takes plac, and we will be there bringing you all the news from the ringside.  Our UK Northern Editor, Andy Cook, will also be there and has tasked his Dad with taking the pictures!

Of course, we are interested in all dogs, and will bring you stories about the various breeds and individual pooches we are lucky enough to encounter.  We especially like to meet dogs with jobs because their stories are so interesting, and inspire us to be the best we can be.  We remember particularly the Hounds for Heroes dogs we met last year. I hope they are there again in 2018.

Every Year, The Kennel Club holds a competition called Friends for Life, and nominations are invited for dogs whose service enhances the lives of their owners with support, love and devotion. To us, these dogs are the best of the best, real heroes making extraordinary contributions to the lives of humans who might need a little help and companionship.  If you know such a dog why not nominate them?  Submissions to The Kennel Club must be made before midnight on 21st January 2018, so there is still time. More details on the Crufts website.

Over the coming weeks, we will keep you updated on our preparations to  sniff out the hottest places to be and the exciting people and dogs we hope to meet. And when we are there we will bring you exciting reports direct from this great Show.

Crufts 2018 here we come!
