Merry Christmas from reporter at large Fritz at the Temecula Holiday Parade in California USA. The theme this year is Silver Bells. For the past 25 years Santa has visited Old Town Temecula on the first Friday of December. We are so lucky to get Santa to come to town during his very busy season.
You can see that I am less than amused about my Christmas jacket being adorned by those huge bells, but I suppose it is all for a great cause. I don’t want to be on Santa’s naughty list.
The Temecula Valley Dachshund Club, my chore peeps, have marched in the parade since 2008!!! We always start off the parade by our banner truck and loyal dachshund.
The announcer said we are his favorite group. Well, everyone must agree because both adults and children were yelling “look at the wiener dog”.
We had over 50 dachshunds marching this year. By the end of the parade, we spread out for what seemed to be a mile. Of course, we had to stop along the way for love and treats from our friends.
Families lined up their chairs as early as 6 AM to get a front row seat (PS the parade start time & 7 PM)! At the main intersection of Old Town, the crowd was so deep you couldn’t see the street. Mom didn’t get a picture because we were giving out so much love and swirled around in amazement. You see, we enjoy being in the parade as much as people do coming to see it.
Did I tell you that we won 1st Place Animal entry?
Hope you can join us next year!
PS. Mom thought it would be fun to show you some of my “Holiday” looks. I saw woof and good night!
Final PS. This You Tube video will give you an idea of what its like to be at the Temecula Holiday Parade in person. See you there next year?
