The Swan (Nr. Sheffield) Pub review

My review of The Swan Inn, Main Street, Ridgeway, Sheffield, England.

Recently myself and a couple of chums had cause to visit The Swan Inn, Sheffield. It was a very short notice impromptu visit to the area so I asked mum to find us a dog friendly pub for lunch. I think she did quite well because The Swan was a pleasant surprise.

The outside is pretty and has a traditional pub vibe and a carved Swan above the doorway. The inside is a bit no frills but the staff are welcoming and there is a whole room dedicated to canine guests.

It was very lively when we visited and including ourselves there was at one point seven dogs and accompanying humans in the dog room. The dog room is cosy and has a lovely bay window, which I suspect is the most popular seat in the house. The menu has a good choice but does lack the expected indications of vegetarian/nut allergy etc which is a bit of a bind as you have to guess or ask which can be off putting for vegetarians or fatal if you have a food allergy. There is however an impressive and quite frankly staggering choice of fourteen pies, so for pie lovers this is the place. The food was a decent sized portion and I am told it was tasty, though mum did say her onion bhajis we just verging on over cooked.

Alongside my accompanying canine friends I was allowed to sit on the seating which mum always says is the sign of a true dog friendly place!
